Well we turn now in Holy Scripture to our Old Testament reading which tonight is coming to us from Deuteronomy chapter 6 We’re reading verses 1 through 12 Deuteronomy chapter 6 After that, we’ll flip over to one of the smaller books in scripture, to 2 John, a mere 200-ish words in Greek. Our Old Testament text this morning comes from the book of Deuteronomy. Deuteronomy chapter 8, verses 1 through 18. Then we’ll flip on over after that to our New Testament passage, which will be our sermon text in the gospel of Matthew chapter 3, verses 13, and then through chapter 4, verses 11.
